CBCT Imaging: Precision Behind Every Adjustment

CBCT imaging shows the exact position of your cervical spine in three dimensions, so your care is built on what's really happening in your neck. If you want adjustments based on your anatomy rather than guesswork, this is the technology behind that precision at Atlas in Balance in Oceanside.

See it, don't guess it

A flat X-ray shows shadows. CBCT shows your spine in three dimensions, so your care is planned around what's really there.

Why 3D matters

Your anatomy is one of a kind

No two spines are built the same way. CBCT captures the exact position and angle of your upper cervical bones from every direction, revealing detail a standard X-ray simply can't. That picture is what lets a correction be tailored to you instead of averaged from a textbook.

Focused and intentional

Imaging only when it guides your care

CBCT uses a targeted scan of just the area we need to see, and we image only when it will meaningfully shape your plan. The result: every adjustment is grounded in your actual anatomy, not a guess. That's the foundation of precise, gentle Blair care.

Frequently asked questions

What is CBCT imaging?
CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) is a 3D scan that shows your cervical spine and the surrounding structures in fine detail. Unlike a flat X-ray, it lets us see your unique anatomy from every angle, so care can be planned around exactly how your bones are positioned.
Is CBCT imaging safe?
CBCT uses a focused, targeted scan of just the area we need to see. We image only when it will meaningfully guide your care, so every adjustment is based on your actual anatomy instead of a guess.
Do I need imaging before my first adjustment?
In most cases, yes. Seeing the exact position of your upper cervical bones lets Dr. Walker plan a correction tailored to you, which is what makes Blair care so precise.

General questions

Is upper cervical chiropractic different from a regular adjustment?
Yes. Upper cervical care starts at the top two bones of the spine, the atlas (C1) and axis (C2), using precise, low-force corrections guided by imaging. It isn't limited to those two bones, though: Dr. Walker examines and cares for the whole cervical spine, since the rest of your neck affects how well a correction holds. There's no twisting, cracking, or popping, and every adjustment is tailored to your exact anatomy.
Do adjustments hurt?
No. Blair corrections use a light, specific contact, so most people feel gentle pressure and nothing more. Many patients are surprised by how calm the experience is, especially if traditional adjusting has made them nervous before.
What happens at my first visit?
Your first visit includes a conversation about your health history, a thorough neurological and orthopedic exam, and CBCT imaging when it's indicated. Dr. Walker then explains what she found and recommends a plan in plain language, with no pressure and no rush.
