Is upper cervical chiropractic different from a regular adjustment?
Yes. Upper cervical care starts at the top two bones of the spine, the atlas (C1) and axis (C2), using precise, low-force corrections guided by imaging. It isn't limited to those two bones, though: Dr. Walker examines and cares for the whole cervical spine, since the rest of your neck affects how well a correction holds. There's no twisting, cracking, or popping, and every adjustment is tailored to your exact anatomy.
Do adjustments hurt?
No. Blair corrections use a light, specific contact, so most people feel gentle pressure and nothing more. Many patients are surprised by how calm the experience is, especially if traditional adjusting has made them nervous before.
What happens at my first visit?
Your first visit includes a conversation about your health history, a thorough neurological and orthopedic exam, and CBCT imaging when it's indicated. Dr. Walker then explains what she found and recommends a plan in plain language, with no pressure and no rush.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on how long the misalignment has been present and how your body responds. Many people come in more often early on to stabilize the correction, then shift to occasional maintenance visits. The goal is a spine that holds its alignment, not endless appointments.
Do you take X-rays or imaging?
We use CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) when it's indicated. It's a focused 3D scan of the neck that shows exactly how your bones are positioned. We also take standard X-rays when they're indicated or necessary. Imaging is only used when it will genuinely guide your care.
Do you see children and babies?
We do. Care for infants and children is extremely gentle, often no more pressure than you'd use to check a ripe tomato, and always matched to the child's size and stage of development.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed. You can book directly by phone or through our contact page, and new patients are always welcome.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, everyday clothing is perfect. There's nothing special to prepare, so just come as you are.
